Bio

My personal hooping journey began in Bend, Oregon where I was surrounded by a beautifully talented Burningman community. After moving to Brattleboro, Vermont, I started making my own hoops and really fell into the meditation of Hooping. Hoopdancing made me happy. My health and fitness improved. I was hooked. WickedHoops was accidentally born in Prescott, Arizona in 2008 as a simple way to provide my friends with professional quality hoops and fitness hoops for the community.

To my hoopbrothers and hoopsisters out there, you all rock. And for those of you who haven't tried it yet... step into something wicked... I dare you.

What's all the Hoopla for anyway?

Fitness and Fun

We hoop for our health. Hoop classes are popping up everywhere. Gyms and fitness centers from California, Boston, all the way to Alaska have taken hooping to the next dimension. Hooping or HoopDance classes are becoming as common as yoga and spinning class. That is because hooping is the absolute funnest, most joyful fitness workout you could can imagine. Burn up to 600 calories an hour. Smile, laugh, dance, exercise. Hooping is a full-body, low impact, cardio workout. It also allows you to focus on strengthening your core muscles, while toning arms, hips and thighs.

Peace

We hoop for peace. Hooping puts me in a meditative state, a trance. It calms my heart and head when nothing else can. Hooping curriculum like The HoopPath strive to teach hoopers how to reach that "deep introspection" while learning very technical moves. It is a beautiful model and I would encourage you to check out the video on their homepage.

Art

We hoop because we are creative and it feels so awesome to express ourselves. Because it feels good to get dressed up for no 'good' reason. Because we love making leggies and armbands for our friends to show off during a hoop session. Because we love getting down and dirty with our hoop in the backyard. Because we love music, and feeling sexy, and groovin with friends. Because we love hand making hoops. Because we are designers, dancers, athletes, crafters. We are artists.
